About the Ferragosto Festival
Ferragosto brings Italian culture to life, with San Diego’s twist on Feriae Augusti, a festival of holidays introduced by Emperor Augustus in 18 B.C. This year, Little Italy’s Amici Park will be transformed into the landscape of Pompeii, where guests can eat, sing and be merry as a community. Ferragosto San Diego puts on a large event in the summer to benefit the community of Little Italy. Partnering with the Little Italy Association and other local organizations to offer scholarships, programs for the local youth, and funds to aid in preserving the historical facets of the neighborhood.
This Year at Ferrogosto: Pompeii
Ready to top the last Ferragosto in 2013, this year’s festival is pulling out all of the stops. Come early and see Patrizia, the Sultry Lady of Jazz perform at the VIP reception before the event begins. Headlining the festival this year is the Dirty Bird Band, who’s music will be accompanied by aerialist performers, acrobats, and illusionists, creating an atmosphere of dancing and wonder. Patrons can enjoy food and drinks from some of San Diego’s favorite restaurants, including Monello, Kettner Exchange, and Pappalecco. Funds raised go toward the community of Little Italy, and you can embrace your philanthropy by partaking in the silent auction or raffle. This year, Ferragosto will be giving away a trip to Italy, as well as tickets to Superbowl 50 in San Francisco.
Ferragosto 2015: Pompeii kicks off this Saturday, August 15th at 5:00pm with a VIP Reception.
The full event begins at 6pm and runs until midnight on Saturday in Little Italy (State Street and Date Street, Downtown San Diego). Visit their website (www.ferragostosd.org) for additional information and to purchase tickets
