Avoid these common curb appeal mistakes when your home is on the market:

Unkept Exterior

Clutter sends a negative message to potential buyers. A mix of lawn furniture, shoes or litter outside your home will drive away interested parties before they get a chance to see the interior of your home.

A car parked in front portrays that the garage doesn’t offer enough space. Consider power washing the windows and removing any excess from your exterior. Portray that your home is spacious, tidy and well organized, to increase the likability of your home.

Poor Landscaping

Get rid of dead shrubs or plants that aren’t visually appealing to the eye. Be sure the yard looks maintained and clean. Consider mowing the lawn and putting in new plants or flowers to spruce it up.

Unusual Colors

Avoid colors like bright yellow, orange or purple and lean towards more neutral tones when your home is on the market. Consider investing in a new paint job or, at the very least, a touch up for your trim or front door to carry through the first impression you need.

Everyone has their own taste, especially when it comes to their home, so its best to avoid keeping personal possessions like flags or statues outside the home. Keep it as simple and neutral as possible. You want potential buyers to be able to visualize themselves in the home and what they can do to make it their own.
