4 Free Fall Activities To Do In La Jolla
La Jolla is beautiful at any time of year, but fall brings out the best in this lovely beachfront community.
If you’re looking for fun things to do in La Jolla, you’ve come to the right place! We’ve got an awesome list of wonderful activities that you can do with your family this fall.
Let’s dive in!
Explore the La Jolla Caves
If you love outdoor activities, you’ll love exploring the La Jolla Caves. There are seven caves that you can explore by kayak. If you’ve got small children, you might want to book a tour with a local boat company instead. While tours are not free, getting to see the caves up close and personal is an experience you’ll remember for a lifetime!
These caves are more than 75 million years old and once served as hideouts for pirates! The best time to see them is in the afternoon and at sunset. Whether you kayak or go by boat, make sure to bring your camera to take pictures of these ancient caves.
Relax With Seals
One of the best things about La Jolla is that you can hike in the mountains and swim in the ocean within the space of a few hours. Windansea Beach is beautiful and boasts a native seal population.
You walk down to a secluded little beach and you can see the seals playing in the sun. Tourists and locals have enjoyed the seals’ company since the early 1990s, and little ones always get a big kick out of seeing the seals up close.
Browse the Outdoor Market
On Sunday mornings, there is a charming open-air market at La Jolla Elementary School. They offer homemade bread, organic vegetables, and pre-made food. If you’re in the mood for some top-notch crepes, you’ve come to the right place.
The neat (and free!) part of the open air market is that it offers free crafts on the third Sunday of every month. They have seasonal activities and welcome children of any age. If you’re going to attend, try to be there by about 9 am, because it can get a bit crowded.
Check Out the Recreation Center
One of the best free things to do in La Jolla is to go to the Recreation Center. They offer several outdoor climbing options for children, have tables for birthdays and picnics, and have free craft time on Fridays.
The La Jolla Recreation Center also has yoga classes, weight rooms, and pee wee sports activities for a small fee. If you’re new to the area, take a minute and see what the Recreation Center has to offer! This community staple can also be a great way to meet La Jolla locals and become even further connected to your community.
